Save audio with this free text-to-speech app
TalkIt is a free business and productivity app from Intra Darma that lets users save audio produced by the text-to-speech feature. This allows you to write down whatever you need and keep the produced audio to play whenever the opportunity calls for it.
Like the Google Text-to-Speech app, TalkIt also enables you to convert text from websites into audio so you can listen to how a word is pronounced or to read out longer passages while you’re preoccupied. Notably, though, the former can be used in conjunction with other Google apps while the latter relies on pasted text.
What can it do?
TalkIt acts as a great tool for those that have trouble with speech. As mentioned above, this handy application lets you input any sort of text you want to be read out and promptly converts it into an audio format that you can save and play at any time. This audio can be saved as an MP3 file that’s available offline, as well.
Users have the ability to choose the voice they want to listen to when the text they’ve chosen is converted to speech. They can also customize a number of variables, including the speech rate, pitch, and volume. There are also a number of presets to choose from, in case you want to find something quick and as close enough to the sound you want to achieve.
To get a better idea of which sound you prefer the most, you can test your audio with any of the available presets or ones you’ve added yourself. You can do this without having to save the audio so it doesn’t take up too much of your storage space. The number of presets available in the app is quite limited, though, so you still have to tweak certain settings.
